Two antidepressants are more effective for depression than one

Recent research suggests that adding mirtazapine (Remeron) or trazodone to standard first-line antidepressants can enhance the response and remission rates in depression. ADHD Treatments Linked with Higher Risk of Heart Disease

A new study showed that those taking stimulants for ADD for longer than five years had a 23% increased risk of heart attack or heart failure. One year of medication was associated with a 4% increase in risk. They found that the increased risk is likely because stimulants raise blood pressure.

Dr. Neuman says: “This study should not change the availability of stimulants for folks. I recommend that those on stimulants regularly monitor their blood pressure and consider blood pressure treatment even for borderline readings—goal < 135 systolic (top number) and < 85 diastolic (bottom number).”

Psilocybin (hallucinogenic in Magic Mushrooms) treatment cut Heavy Drinking Days by more than half

Exciting research reveals that Psilocybin treatment significantly reduces heavy drinking days in individuals struggling with alcohol-related issues. Psilocybin treatment, pending FDA approval likely in 2024, has potential side effects, including anxiety, nausea, increased blood pressure, and the triggering of underlying mental health conditions.
